We’ve all had our fair share of trends that we wish would stay hidden in the back  of the fashion closet and those that we pray make a glorious, fabulous and well deserved comeback. Hugrz can’t help but rejoice for the revival of the leg warmer over the last couple of seasons.  Although slightly updated from it’s 80’s counterpart, this trend still brings a touch of fun and detail to any outfit. Von Maur is known for its outstanding selection of brand name and specialty apparel, shoes, accessories and gifts. They feature products from leading brands such as Eileen Fisher, Free People, Coach, Joe’s Jeans and Tommy Bahama — and now Hugrz Boot Wraps.  

The von Maur family opened its first store in the late 1800′s. The rented store was 20 by 50 feet, located in Davenport, Iowa. They have come a long way since that cozy shop. Today, 27 Von Maur stores are scattered across 11 states: Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Ohio; and still expanding. Their corporate headquarters and Retail Locator. 

This Labor Day, we salute the American workers, and the history of labor here in the USA.  Hugrz is dedicated to making as much of our product here as possible.  Sadly, some of the materials, like the faux fur fabric and the faux suede, must come from overseas.  They simply are not made here, YET.  Hopefully we can change that — but that’ll be another chapter for the company.  

Last season we were able to create 30 new jobs right here in Michigan.  As we grow, we plan to do even more.

Happy Labor Day!

Despite the “Olympic Wardrobe Malfunction of 2012” –  American-made apparel is not dead.   In fact, there is a RETURN of manufacturing to the USA, and strong speculation that we could be on the cusp of  revival of “Made in America,” with workers paid good wages for building things again. The gap between the cost to produce goods in the United States or to produce them abroad has narrowed, thanks to a decrease in China’s competitive advantage. Products such as your very own Hugrz boot wraps are made right here in the USA — in the hard hit manufacturing sector of Michigan to be exact! Hugrz are one of the growing list of popular fashion brands are made here.  There are over 50 exhibiting at the MAGIC trade show this month, including American Apparel, N.Y.L.A., and Red Engine Jeans.
